Free Engine & AI Image Data Policy
How the free AI engines and image sources used by MedHall handle your data, and what this means for you.
Why Free Engines Exist
MedHall is designed to work everywhere, including regions where a single AI provider (such as Google AI) is unavailable or restricted. MedHall performs no AI inference on its own servers: text tools run directly from your browser to a provider you connect with your own key — a Google Gemini key when available, or an OpenRouter key (OpenRouter's `:free` models cost nothing). Image tools behave differently: they do not generate images at all — they SEARCH real, freely licensed medical images and display each one with its source, and nothing is drawn by MedHall or by any model. MedHall does not store your requests: text requests travel directly from your browser to the provider, while one same-origin forwarding endpoint exists — the caption endpoint, which fetches captions and lecture metadata from YouTube and public Piped instances. Those endpoints only FORWARD requests: no AI inference runs on MedHall's servers, and nothing is stored or kept there. This policy describes each engine, the data it may receive, and the limits of MedHall's responsibility.
Image Tools Search Real Images — Nothing Is Generated
None of the MedHall image tools generate images. Anatomy Vision and MedECG Arena look up REAL medical images and diagrams in your browser, from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia (public-domain or freely licensed works), and every displayed image carries its source link and, where available, its licence. MedHall uses no image-generation model and no image-generation service, and no AI-drawn picture is ever presented as a medical reference. If no real image is found, the tool points you to search engines instead of showing a generated substitute.
Public-Domain Images (Wikimedia Commons)
Anatomy Vision also displays real medical diagrams and photographs from Wikimedia Commons, which are public-domain or freely licensed works (including classic anatomy atlases whose copyright has expired). Each image is shown with its license and a link to its source page, in accordance with the Wikimedia terms of use. MedHall does not host or alter these images; they are loaded directly from Wikimedia's servers.
Text Engines (your own key — Gemini or OpenRouter)
Text tools work best with a connected key: a Google Gemini key when available, or an OpenRouter key — OpenRouter offers free (`:free`) models that cost nothing. When no key is connected at all, the tools fall back to a limited anonymous free-text endpoint, so they stay usable without an account; that fallback is best-effort and is not a substitute for your own key. Requests go directly from your browser to the provider you chose; MedHall does not log them and does not act as a proxy. If your current provider is unavailable, connect another key at any time from the Connect Engine panel. Do not enter identifiable or confidential patient information into any AI tool.
Opting Out
You can stop using the free engines at any time: (1) disconnect any connected keys via the Connect Engine panel — keys are removed from your browser storage immediately; (2) simply stop using any tool at any time — nothing is stored on MedHall's side, so there is nothing to delete. Because the engines are external free services, MedHall cannot delete data held by them; see each provider's privacy policy for deletion rights.
